ALTC is a special purpose private school and day treatment facility serving students grades k-12 in Auburn, Maine. ALTC serves students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs in a highly structured and supported educational environment with therapeutic behavioral support and clinical counseling. ALTC employs certified special education teachers who deliver specially designed instruction to each individual student. ALTC social workers provide weekly individual counseling centered around individualized treatment plan goals. Behavioral Health Professionals offer one on one support through modeling, hurdle help, prompting, and positive reinforcement, following a School Wide Positive Behavioral Support System (SWPBSS) where students’ efforts, attempts, and successes are recognized and rewarded through various means of reinforcement including participation in a token economy, school store, and weekly off campus field trips. ALTC staff are trained in a trauma informed therapeutic crisis intervention system used to assist students in their most difficult moments, with an emphasis on de-escalation and ensuring school safety.
